Trash Collection

Trash Container Guidelines

Residential solid waste shall be bagged and stored in reusable containers of not more than 45 gallons nor less than 30 gallons in capacity, and shall not exceed 75 pounds in weight.

Containers shall have handles and tapered sides for easy-emptying and shall be leak proof, waterproof, and fitted with a fly-tight lid and shall be properly covered at all times.

What is Considered Trash?

Trash is defined in Chapter 5, Article III of the Cameron City Code as:

  • Paper
  • Empty food and drink containers
  • Cans
  • Bottles
  • Glass
  • Crockery

Residential trash does not consist of:

  • Appliances
  • Construction materials
  • Large pieces of metal
  • Furniture
  • Paint
  • Hazardous chemicals / materials

Large Trash Pickup
The City has arranged a large and bulky item agreement with R & W Container.  Resident's may utilize the service one time per month by contacting R & W directly (816-632-3590) to arrange the pickup and pay the applicable fees directly to the contractor.

Holidays
Trash collection will not run on the following holidays and will be picked up the following day:

  • New Years Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Christmas Day
