Aquatic Center Opening - Cameron Aquatic Center to Open June 1st
The Cameron Park Board announced it is planning to open the Aquatic Facility on June 1. The Park Board felt it was important for residents to have outdoor recreational opportunities. With the State of Missouri re-opening, it is important for the City of Cameron Parks and Recreation Department to begin phasing in elements of parks and recreation for the health and enjoyment of all residents and guests in a responsible, sanitary and safe way.
The CDC states that there is no evidence that the virus that causes COVID-19 can be spread to people through the water in pools, hot tubs, spas, or water play areas. Proper operation and maintenance (including disinfection with chlorine and bromine) of these facilities should inactivate the virus in the water.
Residents and visitors in parks, participating in a program or using a facility must adhere to the CDC Guidelines of staying home if you feel sick or have been sick within the last two weeks, washing hands frequently, and social distance with other users who are not within your household.
One of the most significant means to help ensure safe social distancing inside the facility is by limiting the number of patrons. To start with, only 80 patrons will be allowed in the facility at a time. With the limited capacity, only Cameron residents will be allowed to utilize the facility. For purpose of admission to the pool, Cameron residents are defined as anyone with a Cameron mailing address. Pool patrons 15 years of age or younger will need to be accompanied by an adult with a Cameron address, while at the pool. Look for more detailed information soon. Social distancing of six feet is required of pool patrons. Deck chairs will be spaced out to meet this requirement.
To help ensure everyone has an opportunity to attend, there will be three separate open-swim sessions, each two hours in length. This will also allow staff to clean the facility between each block time. The times are from 1:00-3:00; 3:30-5:30; and 6:00-8:00 pm. All three time periods have the same admission cost of $3.00 per person.
In addition to the open swim times, there will also be time for swim team, swim lessons and private party reservations. All of these activities will need to follow the same rules and guidelines as for open swim. This plan is the beginning plan of a phased approach to re-opening and can be altered at any time based upon the most recent State Recovery Executive Order, CDC Guidelines, Clinton County or City Orders or as facility use dictates by the Parks and Recreation Board or Director.
